NCF Update 12/07/24

Good morning church family,

Happy Saturday to you all! It is my hope and prayer that today each of us will have time to pause, to reflect on Christ’s goodness in our lives, and to thank Him for His provision and presence with us along the way.

As we walk through the Advent season together, may we remember the following words penned by the Prophet Isaiah under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.

“In the wilderness prepare the way of the Lord; make straight in the desert a highway for our God.”

ISAIAH 40:3

Many times throughout the history of God’s people and even in our own lives, it was when we were in a desert place seemingly devoid of hope when the Lord showed up to deliver us. Christ’s appearing in our world happened as such a time. Many people around us (and perhaps some of us also) are feeling as if their lives are akin to trudging through a desert. Yet we know that Christ has indeed come into the world as a child who grew up to live a perfect life in our place and to bear our sin once and for all. There is no lack of peace when we know Christ, and when we lean into Him rather than into what we can produce in our own strength. Prepare the way for the Lord, Scripture says. Blaze trails through the desert so that people might know Him. Do you know someone who is trapped in hopelessness and sin? They aren’t able to find their way out of that place on their own, but we know the way. Christ is the Way (John 14:6). May Advent remind us that we have the opportunity to blaze trails to Christ for everyone around us. Christ has given us authority, His Holy Spirit to empower us, and a mandate from Him which is over any other ruling delivered by people.

Tomorrow is the Lord’s Day and we have the joy of gathering together to celebrate Christ! Come join us for prayer at 9:30am and for worship at 10:45am. All are welcome so invite that friend who needs a trail blazed to Christ this Christmas season. We would love to bring hope to bear on the hearts of all!

May the peace, hope, and joy of Christ mark your Saturday friends. I love and appreciate you all, and am very thankful for each of you.

In His steps,

Pastor Nick
